A full "wrap-around" cover, painted with Oil on Masonite for the book Proud Pillars Rising (yes, that's the official title--innuendo included!) When creating a wrap around, especially a "historical" romance, much more work is involved before ever applying paint to canvas. The models are fitted for the costumes, posed and photographed by a professional photographer in the studio. In this case, we also lit fires for reference of the burning map (safely, using Duraflame logs in a fireplace). Back in those days, the publisher paid for all the reference; costumes, models, photographer and color prints. I always worked from full color prints sometimes as large as 20 X 30.
